When do you use a Comma or a Bracket?

Commas are used to:

Indicate a short pause in a sentence
Separate a group of adjectives e.g. He was a tall, handsome man
Separate a list of items e.g. We are planning a trip to Cairns, the Gold Coast and Brisbane

Brackets are used when you want to include information that is not essential to the overall meaning of a sentence. For example:

He earned a nice reward ($500) for finding his uncle’s lost wallet.
