Subheadings

Some words are a powerhouse of persuasion. That’s why I call them “Words that Sell”. Today’s Words that Sell are Subheadings

Subheadings are really important and useful things to include in all your marketing materials including your:

  • Website
  • Blogs
  • Quotes and tenders
  • Customer newsletters
  • Even long emails

Unless we are reading a book, we all tend to scan the screen or page looking for information that interests us. When we find it, we’ll pause for a moment to read more.

That’s why subheadings are so useful

If you use them to emphasise key messages in your marketing materials, you’ll be able to attract the attention of the reader so they slow down to read a little more detail.

Good subheadings should:

  • Reflect the key information you want readers to know
  • Encourage people to stop scanning and start reading the section that interests them most
  • Break up the content so your material looks quick and easy to read.
